Boat storage in Christchurch

Ferrymead sits on the estuary, a short tow from the water at Redcliffs and Sumner. Keep your boat out of the weather and off the driveway between trips.

Check the fit first

Measure your boat on its trailer before you ask for a quote. Send these with your request:

Overall length, from the trailer hitch to the outboard in the down position
Widest point, usually the beam or the trailer mudguards
Tallest point on the trailer, including the windscreen, bimini frame or rod holders
Whether the outboard tilts up, and the height when it does

Each unit is 9 m deep and 3.5 m wide, so the boat and trailer together, hitch to outboard, need to fit inside 9 m. Send the door height you need and we'll confirm the fit.

Get it ready

Wash the hull and trailer with fresh water to get the salt off
Flush the outboard and run the carburettor dry
Run the fuel tank low and take portable tanks out
Disconnect the battery, or take it home and keep it charged
Take out life jackets, cushions and anything damp
Chock the trailer wheels

Backing in

The entrance is 14.2 m wide, so the car and boat come through easily before you reverse up to your unit. With access 24 hours a day, you can do your first load at a quiet time.
